Security Awareness Notice: Spoof Emails

Nebu from the World of Warcraft posts this:

We have recently seen an increase in the number of "spoof" emails players are receiving that are attempting to steal account information. These types of emails often appear authentic and usually request your login name, security question/answer, AND password. Please keep in mind that official Blizzard Entertainment emails will always come from a blizzard.com email address and will NEVER ask for your password. For further details on this issue and an example of a recent spoof email that we've seen, please visit our forum post.

The email that I recieved was like this.

I was never trying to sell my account. I wasn't really thinking that much about Wow in my (127 day) Wow break. One of the main reasons I took a break from Wow was, because my account was hacked. And they banned my account for Gold farming. To tell you the truth I spent gold as fast as I ever got it the most that I ever saved up was for Epic mounts Ground/Flying.

When I finally got my account back every item was broken (Red). Repair bill was like 80g which came from the 1500g they left on my toon. When I play I think of other people so I shared my gold that the farmer left on my account with my guild, and friends.

I remember getting one of those fake e-mails about a year and a half ago, and for the first few lines, I started panicking. Then common sense kicked in and I realized it was a hoax. They're getting smarter! /grumble

Sorry to hear your account was hacked, though. Whether or not you got it back, it's still a horrible experience I never want to endure!
